Phi Phi is a small island 48km from the mainland environments as Krabi and Phuket.
Phi Phi Island is actually part of Krabi Province and will come under the local control of The Krabi district government. All government infrastructure, police, paperwork, land department, accounting, legal... Krabi.
The island is primarily controlled down by the pier at the main Phi Phi Village. This is a small town like Asian Bazaar area where there are most of accommodation for tourists and guesthouses for travelers, restaurants, nightlife, dive schools, and travel companies.
The other key areas of Long Beach, Loh Bagao and Laem Tong are controlled by the police and the village head man in the Main Phi Phi Village.
The Village Head man is important as he has to sign off on all development as well as the development office in the Krabi Government.
Infrastructure. There is a first rate pier facility at the main Phi Phi Village, post office and sorting room, average internet connection (some places are a lot better than others, wireless in some locations and resorts), good mobile phone reception in the main bays. There are 2 banks that can hold and transfer money.
Building Infrastructure: Apart from the pier the infrastructure is poor and requires gangs of laborers. Housing these laborers can be some of the key problems of construction. Last Updated: 15 Feb 2010
