Phi Phi Island Overview | Information on Ph Phi Island of July 2003
Phi Phi Tourism and the hotels: the island is taking on it’s usual July feel as many younger travelers taking gap years and students from European Universities make the most of their summer. The hotel rooms rates are very low by high season standards, with a fan bungalow at the
Phi Phi Andaman Beach Resort ( has it’s own swimming pool) only 600 THB.
As the streets fill with the back packing scene the air is alive to the full gamut of Phi Phi life mainly in Tonsai Bay, the center on the island. There always seems to be a lot more interaction with the local Phi Phi Island people in this season as the longer term traveler is not so rushed and has time.
Phi Phi Restaurants
- JP has returned from a month in Germany and so Fatties, a favourite with many local divers living here, has opened again. This is often the center of the diving community eating as JP prepares masterful meal that fit a hard days working out at sea. The marinated Pork steak is a particular favourite of mine, something I look forward to every time I visit Fatties. (Fatties was wiped out during the Tsunami of 2004)
- Mama Resto has had a low season face lift and is looking all the fresher for the new wood and decor. Angelo has a new web site explaining all about his classic seafood restaurant. The pizza over is in full working in order and some sumptuous pizza just nicely crisped emanate from the oven on a regular basis. Yum.
- Pluto Ice Cream near the Reggae Bar is up for sale for a cool 100,000 euro, complete with all the latest Italian ice cream making machinery and more. If you like the Italian gelato you have got to try this. Perfect ice cream in dreamy flavors.

Phi Phi weather in July
- The first 7 days on Phi Phi in July have had poor weather with rain every second day and a continual wind from the West. This lead to many people leaving the island in search of some mainland distractions.
- By the 8th the weather had dramatically cleared leaving perfect sunshine and views of the islands. Perfect photography weather.
