Snorkeling on Phi Phi island is a pleasure I have enjoyed since 1992. The shear variety, the unexpected, always give me a great anticipation for every new encounter.
From the simple reefs on the mountain end of Tonsai Bay on Phi Phi Don to the remote soft corals of Mosquito Island to the north of the Phi Phi islands, to the huge boulders behind Phi Phi Don to the dark deep caverns at Wang Long Bay there is always something new to see.
Some of my favorite snorkel trips involves the caves near Nui Bay where large clouds of baitfish sit in balls of black only to be disturbed by the odd snorkeler or Long Tom (fish).
The best Phi Phi Swimming Forget the pools of the west with their 25 meters of chlorine water and warm showers, forget the foggy goggles the lapping up and down, Phi Phi Island gives you paradise. You can just walk off the beach at Tonsai Bay and enjoy one of the most spectacular views in the world. Lie on your back let the salt water lift you up and relax.
