Usually open to the elements, the owners sit or hang out on the side of the street. They do not hassle you like in some parts but will ask if you need any help if you enter. Often Phi Phi shop sellers are talking to their friends and you have to interrupt them if you wish to buy something.

Phi Phi island is pretty laid back which adds to the charm. The shops in Loh Bagao or Laem Tong are either shops for local people or boutique shops in the hotels.
